After hanging up his jersey, Derrick transitioned into mentorship, becoming a high school administrator, varsity basketball coach, and motivational speaker known for building young minds and athletic programs with discipline, purpose, and heart. His deep passion for helping others rise above their circumstances led him to write Legacy Over Luxury, a financial literacy and empowerment book that blends personal narrative with practical strategies on generational wealth, mindset shifts, and life insurance.
